Stingrays Team Up with CHS Votes to Give Back

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays, in conjunction with CHS Votes, raised over $5,250 through the first ever Get Out and Vote game on Saturday, November 5th. The Stingrays and CHS Votes implemented several initiatives benefitting the Charleston County Public Library’s Free & Fresh Community Fridge program.

The Free & Fresh Community Fridge program helps combat food insecurity in Charleston County and provides access to fresh ingredients with a variety of fruits and vegetables from the fridge to take home for free. No registration or sign-up is required to take food or to donate.

The promotion also thanked local poll workers for their service, encouraged fans to participate in the upcoming election, and raised awareness of the importance of signing up to become a poll worker.

With over 4,000 fans in attendance, the Stingrays wore specialty “Get Out and Vote” jerseys that were auctioned off throughout the game. In addition, the Stingrays staff adopted a local polling location at Royal Missionary Baptist Church, checking people in to vote during the June primary election while donating 100% of their pay for the initiative.

The Adopt a Polling Location program is a Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration initiative where non-partisan organizations can partner together to "adopt" a polling location by providing staff for one (or more) polling places.

As a poll worker, you will have a unique opportunity to serve your community, meet your neighbors, and become involved in the electoral process.

The Stingrays continue their 2022-23 campaign this upcoming Friday, November 18 when the team returns home to take on the Jacksonville Icemen at the North Charleston Coliseum for Frothy Friday at 7:05 p.m. Fans can enjoy $5 Frothy Bears beers through the end of the first intermission, presented by Frothy Beard Brewing Company, and Lucky Chops will also be performing throughout the game.
