Todd Halloran- Owner & Governor

Todd headshot web.jpgTodd became the majority owner of the Stingrays in April 2018 through his investment entity Deke Hockey Holdings LLC. Todd is a partner at Freeman Spogli & Co., a Los Angeles and New York-based private equity firm with approximately $2 billion under management. Freeman Spogli is dedicated to partnering with management in U.S.-based consumer-related growth businesses providing capital, strategic and financial counsel, and focused industry experience. Over his 23 years at Freeman Spogli, Todd has worked with and served on the board of directors for a number of public and private companies. He currently serves on the boards of four private companies.

In addition, Todd has been a board member and/or involved with a number of philanthropic and not-for-profit organizations, including organizations focused on underprivileged groups, education and youth sports. Todd is currently a board member of The Community Fund, a Trustee Emeritus at Colby College and the former president of the Darien (CT) Youth Hockey Association, one of the largest youth hockey organizations in the country.

Born and raised in the Boston area, Halloran attended Colby College and graduated with a B.A. in Economics. He also studied for a year at The London School of Economics and earned his MBA at Harvard University. After graduating from Harvard, Todd worked at Goldman Sachs for five years in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and the Principal Investment Area (GS Capital Partners).

Todd currently splits his time between Charleston and CT/NY. He and his family are passionate hockey fans. Todd grew up playing hockey in a skating family and has four children who all grew up playing the sport including one currently playing collegiate hockey.

Rob Concannon- President & Alternate Governor

Rob.jpgRob Concannon enters his eighth season as the President of the South Carolina Stingrays. Born and raised in Dorchester, MA just outside of Boston, Concannon played for the Stingrays from 1995 to 2000, was a member of the 1997 Kelly Cup Championship team and was inducted into the Stingrays Hall of Fame in 2004. He retired from hockey with the sixth most games played in Stingrays history (330) and was sixth in all-time Stingrays points with 231 (111g, 120a). Prior to turning pro, Concannon was a Division III All-American in 1995 with Salem State College. In addition to the Stingrays, Concannon skated for the Saint John Flames and St. John Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Idaho Steelheads and Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL during his eight-year professional hockey career.

In 2011, Concannon was named as honorary chairman for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Rob is very active in the Charleston community and likes to exercise in his free time.

Concannon has called Charleston home for the last 20 years and lives downtown with his wife Keri and their twins, John Robert and Ella Loraine.

Julie Thoennes- Office Manager

Julie.jpgJulie Thoennes enters her 25th season with the Stingrays as Office Manager. She is the only member of the Stingrays organization that has been with the club since its inception in 1993.

In addition to handling accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and the day-to-day responsibilities of the front office, she assists the team’s coaching staff with player operations which include worker’s compensation and immigration issues. She was inducted into the Stingrays Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011.

Thoennes resides in Summerville with her husband Larry. They have three sons, Chasen, Charles and Greg.

Derek Goldfarb- Senior Vice President of Sales & Sponsorships

Derek Goldfarb - edited headshot.jpgDerek Goldfarb began with the Stingrays as the team's Senior Vice President of Sales and Sponsorships in March 2018. Before moving to Charleston, Derek was the Director of Sales for the Tucker Civic Center on Florida State University’s campus from 2014 to 2018.

From 2008-2014, he was the Assistant General Manager and Director of Sales for the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Derek started his career in the Sales Department at Global Spectrum’s Wells Fargo Center, in Philadelphia, PA. While there he sold ticket plans, luxury seating, advertising and sponsorship opportunities for the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers and Wells Fargo Center.

Derek lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Sara, son Connor and dog Lemmie. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family in the community.

Preston Hayden- Director of Corporate Partnerships & Marketing

Preston.jpgPreston Hayden began with the Stingrays as the Director of Corporate Partnerships and Marketing in March of 2017. Originally from Troy, AL, Hayden received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management with a concentration in Business Administration from Troy University.

Hayden comes to the Stingrays after having worked as a Corporate Partnership Executive with the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins in New Orleans. Prior to his time working in minor league baseball, Hayden spent three years working as an account executive for the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans and the NFL’s New Orleans Saints. He was responsible for over $1 million in new business and was recognized for his exceptional customer service.

This year marks Hayden’s second stint working in South Carolina as he began his career with the then-named Greenville Road Warriors for two seasons.

In his free time, Hayden is a sports enthusiast, competes in various fantasy leagues, and is even known to sing a little karaoke every now and then. His favorite teams are the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Pelicans, and New Orleans Saints, and he has a die-hard passion for his alma mater. Hayden and his wife Amber reside in Charleston with their son, Landon.

Patrick Smith- Corporate Partnerships Executive

Patrick Smith headshot.jpgPatrick began working full time with the Stingrays in March of 2018 as a Corporate Partnerships Executive. He will be engaging in partnerships and growing relationships with businesses throughout the Lowcountry.

After growing up in from Marietta, GA, Patrick played tennis at Georgia Perimeter College before transferring and graduating from Kennesaw State with a degree in Sport Management. He has lived in Charleston for the last year.

During his final semester in school, Patrick interned for the Stingrays as a Corporate Partnerships and Marketing Intern before starting with the team full-time.

In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, farming, along with playing tennis and golf.

Kyle Huckabee- Ticket Sales Manager

Kyle.jpgKyle Huckabee is entering his sixth season with the Stingrays. Huckabee plays a large role with the Stingrays sales staff and was a finalist for the 2014-15 ECHL Ticket Executive of the Year.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Huckabee received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston. He grew up in Summerville, South Carolina and has attended Stingrays hockey games for the last 20 years prior to working with the team. 
Huckabee enjoys golfing around town in his free time and currently resides in Summerville with his wife Marcy and their son Aaron. His favorite sports teams are the USC Gamecocks, the Atlanta Braves and of course, the Stingrays.

Brooke Elias- Ticket Account & Group Operations Executive

Brooke.jpgBrooke Elias started with the Stingrays in June of 2016 as a Ticket Account and Group Operations Executive. Elias worked as a Marketing Intern with the University of Alabama and University of South Carolina athletic departments, helping with the planning and execution of sporting events.  She also worked with South Carolina Special Olympics in Social Media and Event Operations. Elias has been involved in Special Olympics for over 10 years as a volunteer, coach and intern. 

Elias attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Swimming and Diving team. During her time at Alabama, she received her Bachelors of Science in Marketing. After graduating in August 2015, she began pursuing her Master in Sport and Entertainment Management at the University of South Carolina, which she completed in August of 2016.

While originally from Columbia, SC, Elias has vacationed in Charleston her entire life with regular visits to Wadmalaw Island and Seabrook Island. She enjoys all sports, traveling, shopping and spending time with friends and family.

Zach Myers- Account Executive

Zach.jpgZach Myers enters his second season as a full-time staff member with the Stingrays after serving as a Game Operations Intern during the 2015-16 season.

Myers brings a vast sports background to the Rays. He worked the RBC Heritage Classic in Hilton Head, completing an internship with the Heritage Classic Foundation (HCF). He also spent four years as a Game Day Staff member for the York Revolution baseball team and served as a Stadium Operations Intern in 2014. 

Myers most recently worked at Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms. The native of York, PA graduated from York College of Pennsylvania. He resides in Mount Pleasant and is a big Hershey Bears and Washington Capitals fan.

Carter Buffkin- Account Executive

Carter is entering his first full season with the Stingrays as an Account Executive, working with fans on selecting a full array of ticket offerings. Prior to joining the Rays, Carter started his career in sales as a representative for Texas Motor Speedway.

Prior to working in Texas, Carter was with the Charlotte Motor Speedway, working his way from an event staff position to a part-time account executive. In addition, he worked game nights with the equipment staff of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets.

A native of Indian Trail, NC, Carter now lives in Moncks Corner, SC. His favorite NFL team is the Carolina Panthers and when the Rays aren't on the ice, you can find him in Columbia cheering on the Gamecocks.

Nicole Crowley- Account Executive

Nicole Crowley headshot.jpgNicole is in her first season with the Stingrays as an Account Executive and already has plenty of experience working in sports before joining the team. She worked as the Community Relations Coordinator with the Springfield Cardinals, the AA-affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, from 2011 until 2015.

She also worked with the Frisco RoughRiders, the AA-affiliate of the Texas Rangers, for two seasons where she began as an intern and was promoted to a full-time position as the Group Sales Coordinator.

While attending school at the University of Indianapolis, Nicole completed several internships with the Indiana Pacers and Sequence Sports Event Management Company before receiving her Bachelors Degree in Sports Marketing in 2010.

A die-hard Cardinals fan after growing up in St. Louis, Nicole moved to the Lowcountry with her husband Rodney who currently serves in the United States Coast Guard. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.

Jared Shafran- Director of Communications & Broadcasting

Jared.jpgJared Shafran was named as the Stingrays' new Director of Communications and Broadcasting in October of 2016. He is beginning his second season as the "Voice of the Stingrays", providing play-by-play of all games.

The 29-year-old Shafran previously served as an Athletics Communications Associate at Ferris State University where he called games for the school's Division I hockey team. During the 2015-16 season, Shafran was behind the microphone for Ferris State's WCHA conference championship win, as well as the team's run to the 2016 NCAA Tournament. At Ferris State, Shafran played a key role in producing video and multimedia content and helped oversee social media accounts for all 17 of Ferris State's athletic programs. He also assisted with the school's media relations and marketing efforts while leading video board production.

Shafran, a Highland Mills, NY native, also spent three seasons with the Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League (USHL) from 2012-2015. The Northeastern University graduate handled play-by-play for the Storm and spearheaded the team's media relations and digital media initiatives. During his time in Tri-City, Shafran's strong body of work earned him numerous opportunities to work league events. Shafran was chosen to lead interview efforts for the USHL at the NHL Draft for two years, hosted the USHL Draft Show twice and served as a rinkside reporter at the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

His previous work also includes a stint as the play-by-play voice of the Palm Springs Power baseball team in California in 2012, as well as experience with The Boston Globe and The Boston Herald. He currently resides in North Charleston and enjoys rooting for the New York Mets in the offseason.

Ryan Hayden- Director of Creative Services & Game Operations

Poke.jpgRyan Hayden began with the Stingrays as the Director of Creative Services and Game Operations in September of 2017. Originally from Troy, AL, Hayden received a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Leadership Studies from Troy University in 2010. He then received a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Nichols College in 2015.

Hayden joins the Stingrays after having served dual roles at Nichols College as the Director of Athletics Marketing and Sponsorships and the Assistant Sports Information Director for the last four years. In his time with Nichols, he helped establish the Bison as a premiere social presence nationally among Division III schools and in the Top three in all of New England according to Hayden also established a phone application called ‘Nichols Nation’ in collaboration with SuperFanU which allowed Bison students and fans to check-in at home sporting events and earn points which could be redeemed for prizes throughout the year.

Hayden also served as the ‘Voice of the Bison’ at Nichols College where he announced many of the school’s men’s and women’s ice hockey games, men’s and women’s basketball games, baseball, and football games. He received the opportunity to work stats in the past for such events as Frozen Fenway, the Hockey East Championship, and the NCAA Men’s Hockey Regionals at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, RI

Hayden is a huge sports fan and enjoys cheering on all of his teams – including the Atlanta Braves, Miami Heat, and New England Patriots.

Hayden resides in Ladson with his wife, Amanda, and his dog, Wade.

Sami Wasek- Community Relations Manager

Sami.jpgSami Wasek began with the Stingrays in September of 2017 as an account executive. After completing her first season with the team in 2017-18, she was promoted to Community Relations Manager.

She is very excited to begin her new role and responsibilities, taking the lead in coordinating more events and increasing our outreach in the local community. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, farming and fishing.

Allie Mulvaney- Merchandise Manager

Allie.jpgAllie Mulvaney enters her third season with the Stingrays as Merchandise Manager. Mulvaney is in charge of creation and management of the team's merchandise and novelties. She oversees staffing, inventory and the Stingrays' new online store.

Prior to joining the Stingrays, Mulvaney worked as a Pro Am Assistant on the PGA Tour at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina. She also served as an NFL On Location Host Committee Member where she worked at Super Bowl XLVIII and received Outstanding "Fans First" Customer Service Recognition for her work with the Super Bowl XLVIII.

Mulvaney received her Bachelors Degree from The University of Tennessee at Martin, majoring in Sports Management. A native of Memphis, TN, Mulvaney now resides in Mount Pleasant. She enjoys working out, spending time with her rescue pit, Navy and hanging out by the pool with friends in her free time.
