The Stingrays agreed to terms with Brauer for the 2018-19 season on June 21, 2018. The native of Edina, Minn. begins his professional career with the Stingrays after completing a 4-year stint career at the University of Notre Dame that included back-to-back trips to the NCAA’s Frozen Four in 2017 and 2018.
Brauer totaled collegiate career-highs in games played and scoring with the Fighting Irish during his senior season, appearing in 35 games and posting eight points on five goals and three assists to go along with 38 shots on goal and a +2 rating. During his four college seasons, Brauer saw action in 64 games and scored 13 points on eight goals and five assists with 43 penalty minutes and a +5 rating. The 23-year-old was also honored with the Charles "Lefty" Smith Coaches Award by the team’s staff at the conclusion of his senior year.
Before arriving in South Bend, Brauer played junior hockey with the Nanaimo Clippers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) during the 2013-14 season, scoring 35 points in 56 games on 19 goals and 16 assists.
