Stingrays Topple Titans 4-2

North Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays (33-23-4-1) defeated the Trenton Titans (19-33-3-5) 4-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday evening. The Stingrays finished their regular-season series against the Titans with a 3-1-0-0 record.

Stingrays forward Joe Pereira opened the scoring at 8:11 of the first period banking a shot off of Titans goaltender Dave Caruso (33 saves on 37 shots) from behind the goal line for this fifth tally of the season. Defenseman Dustin Stevenson and forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien recorded assists.

Forward Daniel Koger made it a two-goal Stingrays lead with 1:05 left in the second period from forwards Tyler Shelast and Josh Turnbull.

Before the start of the final frame, netminder Billy Sauer (W, 14 saves on 16 shots) replaced Philipp Grubauer (13 saves on 13 shots) between the pipes for the Stingrays.  Defenseman Brett Flemming made it 3-0 early in the period with an unassisted goal at 2:49. The Titans jumped on the board at 8:49 with a power-play marker from forward Ryan Hayes with assists going to forwards Steve Silva and Chris Poli. Titans forward Andy Bohmbach cut the lead in half at 18:48 from forwards Matt Germain and Hayes. The Stingrays ended the contest 0-for-4 on the power play while the Titans went 1-for-6.

The Stingrays open a three-game in three-day weekend this Friday, March 9 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Friday is Turn Back the Clock Night!
