Friday's game was the first of a ten straight on the road for the Stingrays, and the victory was the Swamp Rabbits third win against the Stingrays this year.
November 21: South Carolina at Atlanta, 3-0 W
Mark Dekanich returned to the South Carolina Stingrays net in grand fashion on Saturday night. The netminder stopped 39 shots to earn the shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Atlanta Gladiators Saturday night at the Infinite Energy Center. The goaltender, making his first start since sustaining a lower-body injury on October 25, was helped by a pair of points from forward Brett Cameron and Tyler Lewington's first professional goal.
ROAD WATCH PARTIES AT KING STREET GRILLE-NORTHWOODS
King Street Grille-Northwoods has become the Watch Party Destination for Stingrays road games during the 2015-2016 season, including all road games during the Stingrays upcoming trip. Fans 21 and up may enjoy a special offer of $3 Drafts, including Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Shocktop and Landshark during all Stingrays Watch Parties at King Street Grille.
THESE GUYS AGAIN…
The Stingrays battle Orlando twice this week. The two teams played on November 13 and November 14 in South Carolina in two tightly contested contests. South Carolina claimed a 2-1 shootout win in the first game, while Orlando won the game in the shootout by the identical score the next night. Goaltenders Vitek Vanecek and Rob Madore for Orlando played both games for their respective clubs in the opening two games of the season series.
“DEX” PUTS ON A SHOW
Goaltender Mark Dekanich returned to the Stingrays net in grand style on Saturday. After missing nearly a month due to a lower-body injury sustained on October 25, Dekanich started Saturday’s 3-0 win over Atlanta. He stopped all 39 shots he faced to earn his first ECHL shutout. The veteran goaltender earned his second win of the season in only his fourth appearance.
CAMERON ON THE BOARD
Rookie forward Brett Cameron enjoyed a strong weekend for South Carolina. The forward out of the University of Alaska-Anchorage assisted on Joe Devin’s goal in a 3-2 loss at Greenville on Friday. On Saturday, Cameron scored a goal and an assist in South Carolina’s 3-0 win over Atlanta. It was his second multi-point performance of the season. The rookie is tied for the team lead with four goals.
LEWINGTON NOTCHES FIRST
Rookie defenseman Tyler Lewington scored his first professional goal in the Stingrays 3-0 win over Atlanta on Saturday. The tally came on an odd-man rush just after Lewington finished serving a minor penalty. The former Medicine Hat Tiger was a 7th round selection of the Washington Capitals in the 2013 NHL Draft.
HOME COOKING MIXED INTO LONG ROAD TRIP
Despite being in the midst of a 10-game road trip, the Stingrays will get to spend Thanksgiving day in the Lowcountry. The team will return to Charleston after Tuesday’s game in Orlando to allow players and staff time to spend the holiday with family and friends. The club will then travel back to Orlando on Friday before battling with the Solar Bears again on Saturday.
