Stingrays Sign Saucerman to ATO AgreementApr 1, 2016
The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have signed defenseman Colton Saucerman to an Amateur Tryout Agreement, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.
Saucerman, 23, joins the Stingrays after a four-year NCAA career at Northeastern University. This season, Saucerman helped lead Northeastern to a Hockey East Championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Saucerman was named to the Hockey East All-Tournament team and finished the season with 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) in 40 games from the blue line. The 5-foot-9, 191-pound defenseman collected 64 points (20 goals, 44 assists) in 140 collegiate games.
Prior to his time in the NCAA, the Colorado Springs, Colorado native played three seasons of junior hockey with the Corpus Christi Ice Rays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), and the Des Moines Buccaneers, Dubuque Fighting Saints and Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He had 54 points in 126 junior hockey games.
Saucerman has joined the Stingrays and will wear #3.
The Stingrays host Orlando tonight at 7:05 p.m. Fans can win one of five Stingrays authentic throwback jerseys to be given away at the game on Fan Appreciation Night presented by The Post and Courier featuring FREE parking.
