The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, have announced the signing of forward Jeremy Morin to a standard pro contract for the 2017-18 season. A former 2nd round NHL Draft Pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2009 (45th overall), Morin comes to South Carolina with 82 games of NHL experience in his career with the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets.

"We’re excited to add Jeremy to our group,” said Stingrays Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Warsofsky. “He’s a player whose resume and experience speak for itself. A highly skilled player that can score at every level he’s played at. We think he’ll fit right into how we want to play.”

Morin put up a total of 22 points during his time in the NHL on 10 goals and 12 assists. He also has 330 games of experience at the AHL level, piling up 230 points on 113 goals and 117 assists with five different teams. In parts of six seasons with the Rockford IceHogs from 2010-16, Morin had 90 goals and 90 assists in 236 games.

He split his time between the Syracuse Crunch and Tucson Roadrunners during the 2016-17 season and totaled 30 points (16 goals, 14 assists) in 63 games.

A 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Auburn, N.Y., Morin played for USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (USNTDP) from 2007-09 before spending a year in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Kitchener Rangers. Morin will wear No. 16 with South Carolina.

In a corresponding move, the Stingrays have completed a trade to send forward Taylor Cammarata to the Manchester Monarchs in exchange for future considerations. Cammarata is in his rookie season after recently completing a four-year collegiate career at the University of Minnesota.

The Stingrays open their 25th anniversary season at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 20 against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits at 7:05 p.m.
