Stingrays Complete Record-Breaking Regular SeasonApr 9, 2018
With three victories in their final four games last week, the South Carolina Stingrays completed the 2017-18 season as the winningest team in franchise history with an overall record of 48-16-7-1. The team also broke several other ECHL records, becoming the best defensive team in the history of the league. South Carolina is now the new owner of the following records:
- Least goals allowed in a regular season: 153
- Lowest team goals-against average: 2.13
- Fewest power play goals allowed: 27
In addition, goaltender Parker Milner’s league-best 1.86 goals-against average ranks fourth-best in ECHL history.
South Carolina has secured home ice for the first round of the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs, which begin on Thursday with Game 1 against the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:05 p.m. Game 2 is also at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday at 7:05. The series will shift down to Orlando next week for Games 3, 4 and 5.
