Stingrays Claim Thrush

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have claimed forward Casey Thrush off waivers from the Allen Americans, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today. 

Thrush, 23, is in his rookie season. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward registered three points (one goal, two assists) in 13 contests with the Allen Americans this season. Thrush was signed by Allen on December 26 after skating in the preseason with the Indy Fuel. 

Prior to turning pro, the Olney, Md. native played four seasons of collegiate hockey at the University of New Hampshire. In his NCAA career, Thrush tallied 63 points (20 goals, 43 assists), added 79 penalty minutes, and posted a +25 rating in 151 games at New Hampshire. He also spent one season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League (USHL), registering 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) during the 2010-2011 campaign. 

The Stingrays return home for a pair of games this upcoming weekend. The club hosts the Brampton Beast on Friday, February 5 at 7:05 p.m. That game is a Rays 4 Pack Night, featuring 4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hot dogs and one large popcorn for just $65! On Saturday, February 6, the Stingrays host the rival Florida Everblades for Military Appreciation Night presented by APECS Aerospace. The Stingrays will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit America's Mighty Warriors. Debbie Lee from America's Mighty Warriors will also be in attendance, and the game features a CD giveaway to the first 1,500 fans plus FREE parking.
