Stingrays Announce Transactions On Deadline DayMar 9, 2017
The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, finalized multiple deals Thursday afternoon at the league’s 3 p.m. trade deadline.
The Stingrays acquired defenseman Chase Golightly from the Florida Everblades to complete an earlier trade from Nov. 25 for Daniel New, then dealt Golightly to the Reading Royals in a separate trade in exchange for future considerations.
South Carolina also sent defenseman Alex Brooks to the Missouri Mavericks for future considerations. In addition, the Stingrays released goaltender Steven Summerhays.
Brooks played in 32 games with South Carolina after being signed by the Stingrays on Nov. 30, registering 12 points (one goal, 11 assists). The Grand Rapids, Mich. native began his rookie season with the Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).
Summerhays appeared in six games with the Stingrays since being acquired in a trade with the Norfolk Admirals on Feb. 3, posting a 1-3-0 record with a goals against average of 2.84 and a save percentage at 0.892.
South Carolina is home this weekend to face the Florida Everblades on Saturday, March 11 at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, March 12 at 3:05.
