Stingrays Acquire Neugold From AdirondackMar 4, 2018
The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, have completed a trade with the Adirondack Thunder to acquire Evan Neugold in exchange for future considerations.
The 25-year-old skater is in his second professional season, appearing in 24 games with the Thunder at both forward and defense and scored two goals and one assist since joining the team in December. Neugold began the year in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) with the Knoxville Ice Bears and played 13 games while scoring 11 points on four goals and seven assists.
A native of Goshen, Conn., Neugold began his professional career during the 2016-17 campaign and suited up for a total of 53 SPHL contests with Knoxville as well as the Columbus Cottonmouths, combining to score 22 points on 10 goals and 12 assists.
Neugold played collegiately at the Division III level with Middlebury College from 2012-16, appearing in a total of 98 games while scoring 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) and also served as team captain during his senior year. Measuring 6-foot-2, and 200 pounds, Neugold is expected to wear No. 13 with South Carolina.
The Stingrays expect Neugold to join the team in time for their next game on Tuesday night in Greenville against the Swamp Rabbits at 7 p.m. South Carolina will return home to battle Greenville on Friday night at 7:05.
