Rays Make Donations From Kids Takeover NightDec 12, 2017
The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals and AHL affiliate of the Hershey Bears, have announced that the team’s fans raised over $15,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charleston and donated more than 3,000 teddy bears to the Salvation Army during Kids Takeover Night at the North Charleston Coliseum this past Saturday.
All proceeds from the team’s specialty jersey auction were raised in support of the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston, which opened its doors 33 years ago as a home away from home where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Today, the House is able to serve 32 families every single night. Parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel and travel expenses. The home offers these families’ comfortable beds, hot meals, and a caring staff, all just steps from the hospital.
In addition, all teddy bears have been donated to the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, giving children in need stuffed animals for the holidays.

“This year’s Teddy Bear Toss and Kids Takeover Night to benefit the Ronald McDonald House was a huge success,” said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. “We were able to collect over 3,000 teddy bears and raise over $15,000 for the Ronald McDonald House through the jersey auction. We appreciate all the support from our fans Saturday night.
The Stingrays are set for a 3-game road series with the Florida Everblades this week which begins Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
