Rays Broadcaster Zack Fisch Named Voice of Hershey BearsSep 26, 2016
The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that Director of Communications and Broadcasting Zack Fisch has accepted a position with the club's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears. Fisch will serve as the new "Voice of the Bears" and advances to the AHL after one season in South Carolina.
"When we hired Zack last August, we knew he was a very talented broadcaster," said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "He did an excellent job calling our games, helping with our social media presence, and promoting the Rays. I am excited for his new opportunity with the Hershey Bears and wish him and his wife Krista nothing but the best."
With the Stingrays, Fisch managed the team's media initiatives in addition to serving as the "Voice of the Stingrays" for all games. Fisch helped the team launch the all-new StingraysHockey.com, managed the team's social media accounts and assisted with the team's media marketing. He also coordinated with the local media, setting up interviews and writing all press releases and game notes. Prior to his time in South Carolina, Fisch spent three years with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He is a graduate of St. Cloud State University where he called SCSU hockey for four years.
“We are thrilled the new voice of the Bears is a member of our extended family,” said Bryan Helmer, Hersey Bears VP of Hockey Operations. “We value our partnership with the South Carolina Stingrays and are excited to welcome Zack to our organization.”
Fisch joins an exclusive list of former Stingrays broadcasters in recent years who have advanced to the AHL, including Darren Abbott (Manchester, Ontario), Mike Kelly (Springfield), Josh Heller (Albany) and Joey Zakrzewski (Ontario).
"This is a very bittersweet day," said Fisch. "I want to thank Rob Concannon, the Zucker family, and the entire Stingrays organization for making my time in the Lowcountry something I'll never forget. I was honored to be part of this first-class organization, and I cannot thank the fans of the team enough for welcoming me with open arms when I arrived in South Carolina. I am thrilled to remain in the organization with the Stingrays' AHL affiliate in Hershey and will be closely following South Carolina as they chase that fourth Kelly Cup this season."
The Stingrays will name the club's new Director of Communications and Broadcasting in the near future.
