McParland Named ECHL Rookie of the MonthDec 2, 2016
South Carolina Stingrays’ forward Steven McParland has been named the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for November.
The 25-year-old scored six goals, added seven assists and was a +6 in 11 games during the month.
A native of Terrace Bay, Ontario, McParland had at least one point in eight games in November, including a pair of three-point games as he tallied two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win at Orlando on Nov. 10 and had a goal and two assists in a 7-5 loss against Colorado on Nov. 19.
McParland is tied for sixth among ECHL rookies with 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 14 games this season. He made his pro debut late last season with Elmira, scoring three points (one goal, three assists) in four games.
Prior to turning pro, McParland recorded 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 129 career games at Providence College and was part of the Friars’ squad that captured the 2015 National Championship.
