Leach Headed Back To HersheyFeb 1, 2017
The Hershey Bears, American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the South Carolina Stingrays, announced Wednesday afternoon that they have recalled defenseman Joey Leach after a four-game stint with the Stingrays.
Leach had a goal and two assists during his stay in South Carolina and now has six points (one goal, five assists) in eight total games with the Rays this year. The Wadena, Sask. native will return to Hershey where he has played in 18 games (three assists) this season.
Last year, Leach suited up for 58 regular season games with the Stingrays and accounted for 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) with 122 penalty minutes and a +40 rating. Leach was named the AMI Graphics ECHL Plus/Minus award winner for the 2015-16 season. He then appeared in 19 postseason contests, scoring five points (two goals, three assists) with 34 penalty minutes.
Now in his fourth professional season, the 24-year old was previously a third round selection of the Calgary Flames in the 2010 NHL Draft.
