TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
The South Carolina Stingrays visit the Adirondack Thunder for Game 4 of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals this evening. Adirondack leads the series, 2-1. The Thunder earned a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center after the two clubs split the first two games in North Charleston. Both clubs are coming off 4-1 series victories in the opening round, with South Carolina beating #7 Kalamazoo and the Thunder topping #3 Manchester. The two teams met three times during the regular season with South Carolina posting a 1-1-1-0 record versus the Thunder. The Stingrays are the all-time ECHL leader in playoff victories and are tied for the most Kelly Cup Championships with three.

GAME 3 RECAP
Caleb Herbert opened the scoring for the Stingrays just 3:50 into the game but the Adirondack Thunder earned a 3-1 win in Game 3. Ryan Lomberg’s goal midway through the second period proved to be the game-winner and netminder Ken Appleby made 28 saves for the Thunder. Gunnar Hughes added an empty net goal with 15 seconds to play after a late push by South Carolina that fell just short.

DENIED BY DEXSHOW
Despite the Game 3 loss, netminder Mark Dekanich was strong for the Stingrays, stopping 24 shots. In the postseason, Dekanich is 3-3 with 1.94 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Dekanich’s last victory was in Game 2 where he earned a 21-save shutout in a 1-0 win. Dekanich went 20-9-2-2 in the regular season with the fourth best goals against average at 2.16 and the second best save percentage at .925.

LEADING THUNDER

PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE

Six players on the Stingrays’ roster were part of the team’s run to the Kelly Cup Finals last season, including Derek DeBlois who finished third on the team with 29 points, and Joe Devin, who scored 13 goals in the playoffs. The club also has Bobby Shea on the roster who won a Kelly Cup in 2013 with the Reading Royals.
