Forward Fyten Returns to Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Austin Fyten has rejoined the team after being returned on loan from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Fyten, 24, was recalled to the Bears for the second time this season on November 27. With Hershey, he has appeared in six games this season, registering one assist and two penalty minutes. In 11 games in South Carolina, Fyten, who has served as an alternate captain for the Stingrays, has registered five points (two goals, three assists). 

The native of Sundre, Alberta is in his first season in South Carolina after spending the entire 2014-2015 campaign with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL. He has appeared in 128 AHL games, also skating with Texas Stars and Oklahoma City Barons. Fyten was an ECHL All-Star with the Idaho Steelheads in 2013.

Fyten and the Stingrays host the Florida Everblades on Friday and Saturday. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. each night.
