NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Joe Devin has been loaned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL).
This is Devin's first recall to the AHL since the 2011-2012 campaign. Devin, 28, is South Carolina's leading scorer, registering 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 28 games this season. He serves as an alternate captain for the Stingrays, and helped lead the team to the 2015 Kelly Cup Finals. Devin scored 13 goals in the postseason, including the triple-overtime winning goal in Game 7 versus Toledo to send the Stingrays to the Finals.
In Lake Erie, Devin joins Stingrays teammate Derek DeBlois who was loaned to the Monsters for the third time this season on Saturday. The Monsters play an afternoon game today at Charlotte.
The Stingrays return to the ice on Saturday, December 26 versus Norfolk. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Fans are asked to bring a gift card to the game for the USO Holdover Troops. In exchange, fans will receive a ticket to the Stingrays February 16 game.
