NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that forward Derek DeBlois has been loaned to the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL).
DeBlois, 24, rejoins the Monsters for the third time this season. He has two goals in 10 games with the Monsters this season. With South Carolina, DeBlois posted four goals and four assists in 13 games this season.
DeBlois enjoyed a sensational rookie season with South Carolina last year. In 2014-2015, the 5-foot-11, 187-pound DeBlois posted 45 points (21 goals, 24 assists) in 59 games during his rookie season with the Stingrays. He led the club in goals and finished third in points. The Narragansett, R.I. native was a key part of South Carolina’s run to the 2015 Kelly Cup Finals, registering 29 points (11 goals, 18 assists) in 27 playoff games. DeBlois, who played his NCAA Hockey at the University of Michigan, also appeared in four games for the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, scoring one goal.
